On March 3rd 2017 I went
to Whittier California for Officer Keith Boyer’s Funeral. I am apart of a
organization called Brother Hood for the Fallen. Their mission is to “honorably
attend the servicer of fallen officers across the United States and Canada who
have made the Ultimate Sacrifice, giving his/her life during the performance of
their duties, by providing safety for citizens. Their goal is to attend the
services to give support to the families, department and communities and also
to provide the family with a monetary donation”. There are two chapters in New York City, Aurora Colorado,
Chicago, Suffix County New York and Fort Worth Texas. I went to represent my
department and the brother hood. If was a powerful experience, everyone treated
us like we were their family. One lady even offered to buy us dinner. They couldn’t
believe that we travel all that way to honor their fallen officer. One Officer
asked us why we do what we do, we do it because even though we all work for
different police departments we are still all one big one family and when one of
us fall we all fall. Gone, but never forgotten.
